Dr. Anna Phillips, originally from California, had spent the last 15 years on the east coast. She attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she received her BS in Natural Science with a minor in Biology. While she was there, Dr. Anna was unable to resist her love of athletics, and spent much of her time on a field, in a gym or sprinting for the Varsity Track and Field team.
While training for track season, Dr. Anna suffered from pain and immobility for 2 weeks from a weight lifting injury that was finally fixed with one adjustment by her family chiropractor. Combining this experience with her passion for an active lifestyle and with her family’s influence of a natural approach to healthcare, Dr. Anna decided chiropractic was her future. She went on to pursue her dream of becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic at Logan College of Chiropractic. While in school, Dr. Anna played on the women’s basketball team at Logan where she saw (and experienced) first hand the many potential injuries that accompany an active lifestyle. This injury exposure, made her dissatisfied with her current knowledge of injury prevention and care and she knew there was more to learn. Thus, Dr. Anna decided to stay in the athletic arena and get her Masters in Sport Science and Rehabilitation.
Wanting to give back to the community, she provided care to military veterans at the Veterans hospital in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Anna having Parkinson’s and strokes in her family history is very passionate about working in those fields. She was involved with an internship where she was able to meet a wide range of wonderful people including cancer and stroke survivors, Parkinson’s victims and people with multiple joint replacements. She had the opportunity to participate in their rehabilitation and get them back to functioning in their daily lives. Her last stop, before joining the Action Team in Solana Beach was in suburbia Pittsburgh where she took an active role in treating families of the Steel City.
Dr. Anna over the years saw the powerful pain-relieving effect Active Release Technique had on her, her family and friends. After just one ART treatment, her mom, who believed her gardening days were over due to “arthritis” was back in action pulling weeds! She embraced this technique and is a full body certified ART practitioner, which has given her the opportunity to follow her passion and help get people back to doing the activities they love.
Dr. Anna as a firm believer in diet and nutrition as a role in treating pain. She was able to eliminate her chronic headaches with changes to her diet. Motivated by these results she furthered her nutrition knowledge and became a Certified Chiropractic Nutrition Specialist. Combining all of her experiences, from sport injuries to headaches, Dr. Anna believes in a holistic, well-rounded approach to treating the aches and pains of her clients.
